<\/span>Construction
\nof three district police headquarters in Saratok, Roban and Tabuan Jaya
\nand two extensions of Sarawak police contingent complex and Kuching air
\nbase unit are in the works as an effort of the federal government to
\nprovide new and better facilities for the Sarawak police force. <\/span>These five \u2018built, lease and transfer\u2019 (BLT) concept projects are to be implemented under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP). <\/span><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

\nA total of nearly RM700 million has been allocated under the 2006 Budget to fund 31 BLT projects in the state. <\/span>These
\nprojects included the RM80 million Sarawak police continent complex,
\nvarious district police headquarters amounting to RM182.32 million, the
\nRM220 million General Operations Force camp, RM30 million air base unit
\nand various police stations amounting to RM177.9 million.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The recently completed Kota Samarahan police headquarters complex is
\nwell equipped with an administrative block, police station, mosque,
\nmultipurpose hall, residential apartments and housing, and recreational
\nand sports facilities. <\/span>\u201cThe new complex will
\nprovide a conducive environment for the police personnel who will in
\nturn provide excellent service to the public,\u201d said YBhg Tan Sri Mohd
\nBakri Omar, Inspector-General of Police.<\/font><\/div>\n

Good crime control by the local police and cooperation from the general
\npublic has kept the crime rates in Sarawak at a low level. <\/span>Kota
\nSamarahan reportedly has the lowest crime rate in the state, and
\nKanowit is considered as one of the most peaceful towns in the state. <\/span>According
\nto Sarawak Police Commissioner, YBhg Datuk Talib Jamal, the goodwill
\nbetween the people and police has caused a drop in crime rates in
\nKanowit Town, from 38 cases in 2004 to 18 cases in 2005, translating to
\na 52.6% decrease in the number of crime committed.
