Human capital plays a crucial role in achieving the development of a
\nnation as a whole. <\/span>Hence, a systematic human capital development must be
\nimplemented in order to produce knowledgeable, skillful and innovative human
\nresources that will add value to the nation\u2019s development.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

The Prime Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abdullah
\nHaji Ahamd Badawi higlighted this point at the official opening of UNIMAS
\npermanent campus in Samarahan recently.<\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

According to the Prime Minister, our nation\u2019s achievements will be
\nassessed based on our standard of integrity, our knowledge management
\ncapability, and human capital with first class mentality.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

On UNIMAS\u2019 achievement, the Prime Minister is pleased with the
\ninstitute. He noted that although the university is still \u2018young\u2019 at thirteen
\nyears old, it has already won several Gold Medal Awards in Geneva.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

UNIMAS opened its doors to its first student intake in 1993 and has
\nsince produced 7,300 graduates ever since the first convocation in 1997.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

The institute has also produced 350 doctors and nearly half of them
\nare now serving the rural areas.<\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

UNIMAS also demonstrates sensitivity to present needs by engaging in
\nongoing researches in bio-medical, wild life rehabilitation and other fields.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

At present, the RM980 million permanent campus has eight faculties, six
\nacademic support centres and three institutes to cater to the needs of 6,073
\nstudents and 540 academic staffs, including twenty-one professors and
\nforty-seven associate professors.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n
