The
\ncountry's workforce has been ranked third among Asian countries in terms of
\nproductivity, ahead of Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Based
\non the Global Competitiveness Report for 2007\/2008, the salaries and
\nproductivity level of the local workforce was ranked just below Singapore and
\nHong Kong, scoring 5.6 out of seven. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

National
\nProductivity Corporation (NPC) director-general Dato\u2019 Nik Zainiah Nik Abdul
\nRahman quoted by NST<\/a> as said the report involved 131 countries and was
\nconducted by the Swiss-based World Economic Forum.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

However,
\nshe acknowledged that more initiatives to link salaries to performance were
\nneeded. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Dato\u2019
\n <\/span>Nik Zainiah said Malaysia was ranked in
\nthe top 10 in terms of labour-employer relations.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

She
\nwas speaking at a seminar at the NPC northern region office at Kepala Batas,
\nPenang, on the 12 <\/sup>February 2008.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n
