The Sarawak Biodiversity Centre will be organizing a talk on appreciating and conserving Sarawak\u2019s unique biodiversity. The talk, which will be delivered by Dr Melvin Terry Gumal will  take place on 26 May 2011 (Thursday) at 3pm at the DBKU Auditorium, Bukit Siol, Kuching.<\/font><\/p>\n

Dr Gumal graduated with an honours degree in Forest Science from the University of Melbourne, Australia before he went on to acquire  his masters in Environment and Development, and subsequently, a doctorate from the University of Cambridge, England.<\/font><\/p>\n

A recipient of numerous scholarship awards, including the British Council\u2019s Chevening Scholar and the World Wide Fund for Nature Prince Bernhard for Scholarship for Nature Conservation, he has been the Director of Malaysia Program, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) since year 2003.<\/font><\/p>\n

Prior to his appointment with WCS, Dr Gumal was attached to the Sarawak Forest Department as the head of the National Parks and Wildlife Division\u2019s Conservation and Interpretation Unit.<\/font><\/p>\n

Hi is also on the editorial board and a reviewer for several the international journals such as Biodiversity and Conservation, Conservation Biology, Oryx, Biological Conservation and Conversation Leadership Programme.<\/font><\/p>\n

Organized in conjuction with World Biodiversity Day, which is held on 22 of May every year, this talk is aimed at creating awareness on the need to appreciate and conserve the unique biodiversity found in Sarawak, among the general public.<\/font><\/p>\n

Members of the public are invited to attend this talk which will feature some unique biodiversity found in Sarawak.<\/font><\/p>\n
