To address the issue of aging society, the Sarawak Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister YB Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said that Sarawak has developed the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) for Sarawakians early this year<\/em><\/p>\n

By 2030, Malaysia will be one of the ageing nations where 15 per cent of its population comprises of senior citizens.<\/p>\n

According to Sarawak Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister YB Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, Sarawak is estimated to have 16 per cent of senior citizens by 2030.<\/p>\n

To address the issue of aging society, the Ministry has developed the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) for Sarawakians early this year.<\/p>\n

The card, provides privileges and benefits, for Sarawakians aged 60 and above.<\/p>\n

With KGC, senior citizens could enjoy benefits such as discounts and rebates offered by various strategic partners including providers of health and medical, and public transport services, grocery, food outlets, tailoring, telecommunication outlets and other necessities.<\/p>\n

As of now, KGC has 46 strategic partners.<\/p>\n

It was reported that as of Feb 13 this year, 87,953 KGC applications have been received, with Kuching recording the most number of applications, at 23,366.<\/p>\n
