By strengthening its supply chain, Sarawak has the potential of becoming a more attractive investment destination in Malaysia, in addition to its rich natural resources that are yet to be fully explored and utilised.<\/p>\n
Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur and Small, Medium Enterprise (SME) Development YB Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais stated this in his keynote address during the opening of the Supply Chain Conference for East Malaysia held at a hotel in Kuching on 22nd November 2017.<\/p>\n
He added that in line with Malaysia\u2019s overall investment agenda, the State Government is focusing on attracting investments from \u201cmore high value added and high technology industries\u201d into Sarawak.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith these incoming investments, we are optimistic that they will open up doors for our local companies to enjoy more business opportunities by supplying raw materials, parts, components and ancillary services,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In terms of approved investment, Sarawak is the 3rd most attractive investment destination in Malaysia, behind Johor and Selangor.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo date, a total of 745 manufacturing projects with investments worth RM71.2 billion have been implemented in Sarawak,\u201d said Deputy CEO of Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) YBhg Datuk N Rajendran in his opening remarks.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Supply Chain Conference for East Malaysia is the fifth in a series of supply chain conferences organised by MIDA in various regions in Malaysia.<\/p>\n
Attended by around 300 delegates from the public and private sectors, the one-day conference aimed to foster strategic collaboration between multinational corporations (MNCs) and local businesses towards achieving inclusive and balanced growth in the country.<\/p>\n
